One Man's Junk SLC was founded on a commitment to our community and the environment. We provide full-service hauling, ensuring reusable items find new homes and only true trash goes to the landfill.

Born from life, loss, love, and a belief that things deserve a second chance.

In 2020, we stepped away from our 9-to-5s and into something completely unknown. Around the same time, we started noticing perfectly good furniture, books, and household items being left at the curb during neighborhood cleanouts. Instead of letting them go to the landfill, we started bringing them home.

What began as "trash picking" grew into a passion for restoring furniture, rescuing books, and giving forgotten things a second life. We learned to see potential where others saw waste.

Then life gave us a different perspective.

We had the privilege of caring for several beloved family members during their final years. Being able to slow down and be present with them was one of the greatest gifts of our lives. But after each goodbye, we noticed something painful: a lifetime of memories can quickly become a pile at the curb.

We knew there had to be a better way.

So we created One Man's Junk — a junk removal company built around compassion, community, and purpose. We don't believe everything belongs in a landfill. Whenever possible, we donate, recycle, resell, repurpose, and find new homes for the things we collect. We sort carefully, host community Free Item Days, rescue books, recycle cardboard and paper, and do everything we reasonably can to keep usable items out of the trash.

Gary could look at a broken chair, a pile of scraps, or something someone else had thrown away and see possibility. He would even toss Jessica into dumpsters to rescue usable items that others had given up on. He taught her to create, repair, rebuild, and see value where others saw trash. His creativity, resilience, craftsmanship, and determination became part of the foundation of One Man’s Junk.

Grandpa Joe taught Jeremiah the value of kindness, humility, integrity, and showing up for people. His example taught us that kindness costs nothing. Grandma Karen was a lifelong librarian who believed in the power of books and a good story — Their love for others helped inspire our free item day. Giving back to our local community one family at a time.

One Man's Junk began in 2025, but its roots go back much further. To Joseph, Karen, and Gary — thank you. We carry your lessons, your love, and your values into every job we do. And through One Man's Junk, we hope to pass a little of that kindness forward."
